At Duke Energy, we’re committed to providing customers with reliable, safe and increasingly clean energy. We’re improving our transmission infrastructure – the backbone of our state’s energy system – powering communities and helping to build the smarter, cleaner energy future that customers want. 

As part of this commitment and to help meet anticipated growth in Marion, Levy and Alachua counties, we are making improvements to the area power grid. The following projects, along with other transmission investments, will help strengthen the electric grid, meet the growing demand for energy used by homes and businesses in the area, and help minimize the risk of customer outages.

Duke Energy is mindful of the temporary inconveniences that may occur during project construction. We are working to minimize impacts to sensitive areas within the project area including dense residential communities, equestrian farms and training facilities, and areas with historical and cultural significance. 


Duke Energy announced plans in spring 2021 to rebuild and improve approximately 33 miles of existing transmission line. This project will be completed in three phases:
