Duct Bank Underground Updates

Duct Bank Underground Updates

We are working hard to help improve reliability, reduce outages, strengthen the power grid against severe weather and prepare our system for the future.

As a part of this initiative, we have identified overhead power lines that have experienced frequent outages and will be relocated underground in duct banks.

Advantages of relocating lines underground

  • Address reliability concerns

  • Expand capacity to better serve a growing community

  • Strengthen the system against outages and impacts from weather

  • Improve public safety

These grid improvements can help improve the customer experience, make the electric system more resilient and enable smarter, cleaner energy technologies.

We are committed to keeping you informed about work taking place in your community and what you can expect as a property owner. As part of this work:
  • Underground utilities will be located to ensure equipment is not installed in conflict with existing underground utilities
  • Expect road closures, traffic flow changes and sidewalk detours during various phases
  • Weekend and night work is possible
  • Access to private properties to install new underground services will be needed
  • Emergent (unplanned) outages may occur due to safety measures and protective features put in place to protect our crews
  • Construction equipment and work crews will be present in work areas around the community
There may be a brief planned power interruption to convert the metered services from the overhead feed to underground feed. These outages will be coordinated with you, the customer, to minimize impacts.
