Working to support our developing communities and improve electric service in Boone County.
Project Overview
Duke Energy is making important investments to serve the energy needs of Boone County – one of the fastest-growing counties in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The Turfway Reliability Project will install a new substation on Duke Energy property at 7650 Turfway Road in Florence, Ky., to support the growing development in the area. The new substation will be served from two new 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission lines to be built in and out of the new substation. The transmission line portion of the project will undergo a regulatory filing.

- Aug. 28, 2024: Public open house
- Aug. 28 – Sept. 28, 2024: Public comment period
- Feb. – March 2025: Preferred route announcement
- Summer 2025: Regulatory filing
- 2025-2026: Surveying & right of way acquisition
- 2026-2027: Project design
- 2028: Construction start
- December 2028: Project in service
- Through spring 2029: Restoration
