Transmission Line Relocation Near Little Miami River

Working to improve reliability for our customers.

Project Overview

Reliability is a responsibility that Duke Energy takes very seriously. As part of that commitment, we’re improving our electric transmission infrastructure – the backbone of our state’s energy system.

Duke Energy has identified the need to relocate approximately 1 mile of electric transmission equipment in Hamilton County near the Little Miami River Crossing to help ensure the safety and integrity of the electric transmission system. This project will involve the relocation of steel tower structures and double-circuit 345-kilovolt (kV)/138-kV transmission lines. Public input was invited as part of this project, as this planning includes the need to obtain new land rights – also known as easements – for the relocations. Easement area widths will be 150 feet.

This study also factors land use, ecological and cultural resources, and the complexity of engineering and construction. This three-phase process is considered a comprehensive, fair and balanced approach toward selecting potential routes for transmission lines. We will contact property owners directly so they may take an active role in negotiations if they are affected by easement area acquisition.
