Attica Reliability Project

Attica Reliability Project
Transmission Investments
Our goal at Duke Energy is to provide dependable power to the communities we serve. It’s a responsibility we take very seriously. Our careful and continuous assessment of our Indiana electric system has identified the need to upgrade portions of the electric system in Attica to meet the current and projected growth in the area and help improve service reliability.
Our goal is to minimize impacts to nearby homes, businesses, the environment and cultural resources during construction.

Project Need
Duke Energy needs to relocate and rebuild an approximately 3-mile segment of existing 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line in Attica, Ind. This important project will help improve the reliability of electric service in the 3,100-resident community in northwest Fountain County.Project Description
The Attica Reliability Project involves rerouting a section of an existing 69-kV transmission line where it shares an easement area with another power line. These two lines are on the same set of overhead poles and need to be separated into single easement areas. This section of power line currently runs along East Sycamore Street and onto property owned by Badlands Off-Road Park and Harrison Hills Country Club. The new proposed transmission corridor is approximately 3 miles long. This rerouted line will be supported by light-duty galvanized steel poles, which are more reliable than wood utility poIes.Our goal is to minimize impacts to nearby homes, businesses, the environment and cultural resources during construction.
