R. Alexander Glenn
Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer
Alex Glenn is Duke Energy’s executive vice president and chief legal officer. He is the primary legal advisor to Duke Energy’s board of directors and senior management, and leads the Office of the General Counsel, including the company’s legal, ethics, compliance and corporate audit functions.
Before assuming his current position in July 2025, Glenn served as executive vice president and chief executive officer for Duke Energy Florida and Midwest. He oversaw regulatory and legislative affairs, as well as the long-term strategic direction, growth and overall financial performance of Duke Energy’s regulated utilities in Florida, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky.
Prior to that, Glenn served as senior vice president of state and federal regulatory legal support for Duke Energy. Partnering with the company’s corporate and regulatory strategy team and state presidents, he was responsible for advancing rate and regulatory initiatives throughout the enterprise and updating regulatory models. In addition, his team provided legal advice on state and federal regulatory matters.
Glenn has been with Duke Energy and its predecessors since 1996, holding various leadership roles including the state president of Duke Energy’s Florida utility operations and previously as general counsel for Florida utility operations. Before joining the company, Glenn practiced energy law at the international law firm of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP in Washington, D.C.
Glenn earned a bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and law degree, with honors, from the University of Connecticut. He is a member of the Connecticut, Washington, D.C., and Florida bars.
