Round Bottom Phase 2 Project

Round Bottom Phase 2 Project
Project Background
Duke Energy Ohio proposes to install approximately 1.30 miles (6,880 feet) of 16-inch diameter high-pressure steel natural gas distribution pipeline to serve customers in southwestern Ohio. It will extend from a proposed tie-in location at an existing high-pressure steel natural gas distribution pipeline on Broadwell Road for approximately 362 feet west to the intersection with Round Bottom Road. From Round Bottom Road, the pipeline will extend approximately 5,486 feet northeast to Mount Carmel Road. From Mount Carmel Road, the pipeline will extend approximately 406 feet to the south, where a new 8-inch-diameter high-pressure steel natural gas distribution pipeline will begin. Additionally, as part of this project, approximately 0.08 mile (442 feet) of 12-inch-diameter high-pressure steel natural gas distribution pipeline will extend north from the planned regulator station on Mount Carmel Road, crossing over Round Bottom Road to a proposed tie-in location at an existing high-pressure steel natural gas distribution pipeline. The proposed project installations total approximately 7,322 feet in length. The new pipeline will be designed for a maximum allowable operating pressure of 1,000 pounds per square inch gauge (psig) and will have a normal operating pressure of 200 psig. Access to the pipeline workspaces will be accomplished from existing public roads, in addition to the easements obtained for the project.
Construction is scheduled to begin January of 2025, pending approval of the Letter of Notification. The project is anticipated to be completed and in service by May of 2025.
