Temporary Power Disconnect
Temporary Power Disconnect
Some maintenance projects – such as tree trimming, painting or repairs – may require you to temporarily disconnect or reconnect power to your business. All it takes is a phone call. Here's how it works.
1. Call us at 800.452.2777. Please provide at least 24 hours notice.
2. When prompted, select the following:- For Business Accounts
- Start, stop or move service, including outdoor lighting
- Temporarily disconnect or reconnect power for tree trimming, painting or repairs
3. You will now be connected to a customer service associate. Request a "drop service" to disconnect power or ask for power to be "re-tapped" when your work is completed.
Duke Energy can temporarily disconnect service Monday through Friday, with the exception of holidays. For your convenience we can offer you a morning or afternoon appointment (8 - 10 a.m. or 1 - 3 p.m.).
If you had repairs made to your meter base or service lines, an electrical inspection may be required prior to reconnecting your power. You can help speed up this process by asking the inspector to leave a copy of the inspection ticket in your meter base. Once we receive confirmation from the inspection department that we can safely reconnect your power or we're notified that the inspection ticket was left in the meter base, a service technician will be dispatched to your home as soon as possible.
