Third-Party O&M ServicesIn accordance with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Affiliate Restrictions, Duke Energy’s regulated operations are strictly separated from Duke Energy Renewables’ unregulated operations. Because of this separation between Duke Energy and Duke Energy Renewable Services, we’re able to provide services to third-party asset owners as an independent market participant.

The Duke Energy Gearbox Repair Team is a mobile work force that has been providing up-tower gearbox service since 2009 on the following gearboxes: Hanson, Winergy, Atlas, Rexroth, Nanjing, Moventas, GETS. The team also offers full turnkey service from shut down to start up including parts for the Siemens, GE, Gamesa, Vestas and Suzlon Platform. The team is certified with ZF and Winergy and has manufacture training for other products.

- Preventive and scheduled maintenance
- EOW inspections
- Gearbox oil changes
- CBM repair and installation
- Base bolt tensioning
- Yaw/pitch oil changes

Our Large Corrective Team boasts an industry-leading safety record and offers experienced technicians, specialized tooling, dedicated project management, scheduling, crane management and lift planning. We've worked with Siemens, GE, Suzlon, Gamesa, Vestas and Mitsubishi, and we're uniquely qualified to manage your project efficiently and cost-effectively.
The Generator Repair Team is a mobile workforce with the capabilities to change DE and NDE generator bearings of a large variations of models. The team offers customer support for parts purchasing, removal and installation of the bearings, and inspections and testing. In order to meet customer needs beyond replacements, the team also can provide slip ring and shaft lathing to bring your old parts back up to par – reducing cost and downtime.
Utility Operating StandardsThe utility industry has set the standard regarding safety, reliability and performance. Duke Energy Renewable Services uses an integrated approach with an intense focus on maximizing generation and revenue. The foundation for our technical services strategy is based on the application of utility best practices, such as environmental, health and safety policy, performance monitoring, preventive maintenance and operating procedures. Some of the applied standards are:
- Process implementation, including standard operating procedures, job hazard analysis, job task analysis and safe work practices
- Deployment of IBM’s Maximo Asset Management System, including work order tracking and preventive maintenance scheduling
- Utilization of “best in class” OSI Pi software data historian for performance monitoring
- Technicians trained and qualified via curriculum of the Duke Renewables Academy
- 24/7 remote monitoring by the Renewable Control Center (RCC)
Environmental Health and SafetyDuke Energy Renewables is an industry leader in environmental health and safety compliance and natural resource conservation. We leverage more than 500 environmental scientists, engineers and professionals in our Corporate Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) department at Duke Energy. In the field, a team of six EHS professionals provides support to operations, working directly with Duke Energy Renewable Services customer locations to ensure continuous improvement in EHS performance.

Duke Energy Renewables has developed and implemented numerous programs to accomplish that mission, including avian protection, behavioral and electrical safety, and equipping our workforce to work safely at all times. During operations, Duke Energy Renewables minimizes impacts to the environment while maximizing energy yield. As part of our EHS Management Program, we have a robust internal auditing and assessment process consisting of our corporate subject matter experts and field professionals to ensure full compliance with federal, state and local laws.
