The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) has approved the company’s process to complete this important work by the October 2018 deadline. Key provisions of the plan include:
- Offering eligible property owners connection to a public water supply and/or installing whole-home water treatment systems. Neighbors will also have the opportunity to opt out.
- A preference to offer a connection to public water lines, as noted in the state coal ash law, where extending lines is cost-effective and water quality can be assured.
