Mount Orab Pole Replacements

Mount Orab Pole Replacements
Working to improve reliability for our customers in Brown County
Reliability is a responsibility that Duke Energy takes very seriously. Recent inspections have determined the need for Duke Energy to replace three transmission poles along an existing 138-kilovolt (kV) electric transmission line. This project is located in the Village of Mount Orab, Sterling Township, Brown County, Ohio. The construction is needed to help to ensure the safety and the integrity of the electric transmission system.
Project Description
Three existing wood utility poles will be replaced with steel poles and other modernized equipment that help support the reliability of electric service. The modern structures require fewer inspections and are not affected by rot or by insect or bird damage. Two of the three steel poles will be approximately 7-8 feet taller than the existing structures, to provide additional clearances and support the reliability of the transmission line.
Pending regulatory approval, vegetation maintenance in the right-of-way is planned for August 2025, followed by construction. We expect all construction to be completed by the end of October 2025, followed by restoration of areas disturbed by construction.
A notice to construct, operate and maintain this project is now pending before the Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB). To view a copy of the construction notice, Case No. 25-340-EL-BNR, please visit the docket webpage. A paper copy will be provided upon request. To obtain a paper copy, please call 888.827.5116.
