Duke Energy is committed to providing cost-effective and reliable energy to our customers. We continually evaluate our network of power lines that serve homes, schools and businesses to determine the best solutions to meet the region's growing energy needs. To keep our commitment, we need to upgrade the existing electric transmission system in your area.
Recent inspections show that we need to replace five utility poles that support a 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission line along Mill Creek near Mitchell Avenue in Hamilton County, Ohio. This project will ensure the continued reliability of electric service in the region.
The five existing poles will be replaced with steel poles that range in height from 100 to 110 feet, which are up to 25 feet taller than the existing poles. The new poles will include concrete foundations with base diameters of about 8 feet. The foundations for the poles were installed in the fall of 2020. We will begin construction activities for the new pole installations in February 2021. Weather permitting, we expect to complete installation in April 2021.
A notice to construct, operate and maintain this electric transmission line project was filed on Jan. 23, 2020, with the Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) in Columbus, Ohio.
View the copy of the construction notice. A paper copy will be provided upon request. To obtain a paper copy, please contact 888.827.5116. You will be charged for the actual cost of the copy.
