The Ohio Department of Transportation's I-74/I-75 Interchange Reconstruction Project involves rebuilding the Mill Creek Expressway and adding a fourth lane to I-75 between Monmouth Street and Mitchell Avenue. The project also involves building new decks on the I-74 bridges at Spring Grove Avenue, Mill Creek and the Norfolk/Southern and CSX railroads. The comprehensive plan includes replacing the I-75 bridge over west I-74.
To accommodate these extensive highway improvements, Duke Energy Ohio, Inc. is modifying a section of 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission line around the I-74-75 Cumminsville interchange.
The Duke Energy transmission construction project, planned to begin in October 2020, will replace the three double circuited lattice towers (69 kV and 138 kV) with seven (7) monopole structures with foundations and separate the circuits. The 138-kV circuit will have five (5) structures total associated; two 190-foot steel structures, two (2) 195-foot steel structures, and one 135-foot steel structures. The project also involves the installation of approximately 2,200 feet of new transmission line.
The future construction will take place around Duke Energy Ohio's Cumminsville Substation, located at 3702 Spring Grove Avenue, in Cincinnati.
Construction for the foundations for the new structures will take place in summer 2020. The Duke Energy Ohio project is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.
A notice to construct, operate and maintain this electric transmission line project was filed on 20-134-EL-BLN, with the Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) in Columbus, Ohio.
