- This program is available to Duke Energy residential electric service customers residing in single-family homes, condominiums, mobile homes, townhomes and duplexes.
- Cash rebates are paid after inefficiencies are identified and corrected and the Health Check is completed.
- In order for a contractor to analyze your system accurately, the outdoor temperature must be at least 65 degrees.
- Your heat pump or central air conditioner is eligible for a Health Check incentive once during the life of the equipment.
- Additionally, all application and supporting documentation must be successfully submitted and approved within 90 days of date of service after Oct. 1, 2012.
- Gas, oil and wood furnaces are not eligible.
Frequently asked questions
Does my system automatically qualify for the $50 Health Check rebate?
To be eligible for the rebate, a participating contractor must find operational areas in your system that could be improved. If no operational issues are found, that means your system is running as efficiently as possible, and you will not qualify for the $50 rebate.
What types of inefficiencies are commonly found that need to be corrected during a Health Check?
Participating contractors often find dirty coils, low refrigerant levels and low airflow issues that can be addressed to improve your system’s performance.
Why should I have a system tuneup?
If you've never had your system evaluated, you could be wasting energy and money. Just as an oil change and tuneup for your car can improve your gas mileage and decrease the wear and tear on your motor, a Smart $aver® Health Check for your heat pump or central air conditioner can make your system run more efficiently, while helping to prevent unexpected maintenance repairs.
Can I still receive the $50 for a Health Check if I have a service contract?
Yes. Regardless of your service contract status, you may still be eligible for the Health Check incentive. Contact your service provider today and ask how to get your system checked during the life of your service contract. If your service provider does not participate in the Health Check program, contact one of our participating contractors to find out how you can receive a Health Check.
Can I get $50 for each electric heat pump or central air conditioner I have?
Yes. As long as all other requirements are met, you are eligible to receive $50 cash for each piece of equipment, once in its lifetime.
