Bloomington Solar Projects

A cleaner and brighter future

We're helping to build a more sustainable future in Bloomington with two new solar projects.

Bloomington Solar Energy Education Project

We've installed a solar array on our district office in Bloomington, Ind. It serves as a community learning resources, centered around solar power production and sustainable energy practices.

Today, the Bloomington solar array provides approximately 7 kW of solar energy for our district office. This solar array would supply about 90% of the electricity needs for a home that uses an average of 1,000 kilowatt-hours per month.

EverGreen Village

EverGreen Village is part of an affordable home ownership program in the city of Bloomington, Ind. It's a 12-unit subdivision with state-of-the-art environmentally friendly systems and is part of Indiana's Housing and Neighborhood Development Department.

Duke Energy donated the solar panels as part of our demand-side management program approved by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. The project began in 2006 and was completed in 2008.
