Located at McGuire Nuclear Station in Huntersville, N.C., the EnergyExplorium offers educational and fun activities for anyone interested in learning more about electricity generation.

McGuire Nuclear Station is located on Lake Norman, the state’s largest man-made lake. Lake Norman was built by Duke Energy in 1963 by damming the Catawba River with Cowans Ford Hydroelectric Station.


Explore our self-guided exhibits on topics that include the environment, weather, electricity, the nuclear energy process and more. From exhibits that depict the history of the Catawba River Basin to games like the Energy Master Challenge, choose from many exciting, interactive activities that teach about energy and electricity.
