From a one-mile wooded trail and butterfly garden to cool interactive energy exhibits and games, there's something for everyone at the EnergyExplorium. Located at McGuire Nuclear Station in Huntersville, N.C., the EnergyExplorium offers educational and fun activities for anyone interested in learning more about electricity generation.

McGuire Nuclear Station is located on Lake Norman, the state’s largest man-made lake. Lake Norman was built by Duke Energy in 1963 by damming the Catawba River with Cowans Ford Hydroelectric Station.

Learn

Explore our self-guided exhibits on topics that include the environment, weather, electricity, the nuclear energy process and more. From exhibits that depict the history of the Catawba River Basin to games like Wattage Watchdog and the Energy Master Challenge, choose from many exciting, interactive activities that teach about energy and electricity.

Watch

Have a seat in our large auditorium. It's perfect for viewing a movie or hosting a business meeting or community group. Maximum capacity is 80. Our movies cover a wide range of energy and environmental subjects and can be enjoyed by all ages. Titles run from five to 30 minutes long. Movies are available to scout troops, school visits and educational groups.
