Frequently Asked Questions

  • Direct Efficiency is a new model where you only pay for what you need, a well-lit workspace – not the ballasts, drivers, fixtures and maintenance required to provide that light. Through our network of allies, we fund, manage and maintain complete lighting upgrades for commercial and industrial customers. We meter the new LED lighting system, track the energy savings and bill for a portion of those savings monthly. Customers get new lights with zero upfront costs and immediate savings.
  • Direct Efficiency is not financing; it is a true service contract. This means that you pay only a portion of what you save. There are no fixed payments. If equipment isn’t performing, you aren’t on the hook.
  • In addition to no upfront investment and provided maintenance, the Direct Efficiency business model is structured to uphold your goals of reducing electrical utility bills to free up cash for your core objectives and, in the process, reducing your energy consumption. Our allies’ years of experience negotiating with contractors, procuring materials and designing complex lighting systems means the most efficient lighting upgrades for you. And rather than asking you to front the money for the upgrade, or pay a fixed amount each month regardless of your savings, your payment is based on your monthly metered savings. Your savings are based on your actual energy use, not a hypothetical estimate of what your energy savings might be.
  • All the costs associated with your lighting upgrade are covered, from design to installation, and provides replacement parts and maintenance for the duration of our contract. Our ally installs a revenue-grade meter, which measures exactly how much energy the new lighting consumes. Your measured savings are compared against your electric rate to determine the exact savings in dollars and cents – and then you are billed for a portion of the savings.
  • You’ll see savings on your bill steadily increase from day one of construction (even before your service period begins) – all the way to project completion.
  • This solution works for businesses of various sizes in a variety of industries – manufacturing plants, parking garages, condominium buildings, schools, big-box retail stores, grocery stores and more. In particular, this works best with customers who require a lot of lighting and have consistent usage. Schedule a free audit to evaluate your business and see if Direct Efficiency could work for you.
  • Yes. LED lighting systems are 70% more efficient, on average, than traditional incandescent/fluorescent lighting. This translates to substantial energy and carbon savings. Direct Efficiency can help customers decrease their carbon footprint in a way that is fast and easy, and improves their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scores.
  • Our allies have deployed hundreds of different lighting brands. The only product we are tied to is the one that’s right for the job. The specific technologies used are secondary to the savings they generate and their lifetime reliability. Since we only get paid when you save – and we are responsible for any replacements – our interests are aligned with yours. We want systems that are reliable, perform well and save energy.
