Volunteer Programs

Volunteerism is an integral part of Duke Energy's commitment to the communities where we live and serve. Throughout the year, our employees and retirees build relationships and hone their leadership skills by volunteering in their local communities. Here are some of the ways our retirees can make a difference through our Duke Energy In Action program.

Retirees volunteer their time while helping nonprofit organizations that are important to them. At the same time, retirees earn matching cash donations from Duke Energy for their volunteer hours that can go to the nonprofit of their choice. Learn More

Retirees can join employees and pool their hours together to support a common cause. The Retirees4Good program allows spouses to participate and earn matches for the team project. Teams that volunteer 40 hours or more will earn a company donation for the nonprofit supported by the team. Learn More

Retirees can make a contribution of at least $100 to an eligible charity and the company will provide a 1:1 match for their donation. Learn More

Health and Human Services and Cultural Enrichment

Each year, our employees and retirees help provide critical health and human services assistance through our annual United Way campaign. The company also supports arts initiatives that bolster the economic development and cultural diversity of our regions, such as Cincinnati’s ArtsWave and Charlotte’s Arts and Science Council — organizations that distribute funds to local arts, science and history programs.

Through Duke Energy In Action, employees and retirees from across the company are able to come together as one team, with one purpose – doing whatever we can to improve the places where we all live and work.
