  • You can sign up by going to www.duke-energy.com/RTOUE or by calling 800.452.2777, Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • If you do not shift your energy usage away from the on-peak times during both the summer and non summer periods, it could cause your bill to increase. However, you have the opportunity to save money during shoulder-peak times and especially during off-peak times, which includes all weekends and holidays.
  • There is a minimum one-year commitment from you as a participant.
  • There is a non-summer season that is from October 1 – March 31 and a summer season which is from April 1 – September 30.
  • On-peak pricing is in affect during the non summer season months from 6 a.m. – 9 a.m. Monday through Friday. Shoulder-peak times include 9 a.m. – noon and 5 p.m. – 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. All other times are off-peak, including weekends and holidays.
  • On-peak pricing is in effect during the summer season months from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Shoulder-peak times include 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. All other times are off-peak, including weekends and holidays.

  • Your monthly and annual savings versus the standard residential rate will be shown on each month’s bill. This will allow you to understand how effective your actions to shift usage are.
  • Other than your bills showing on-peak, shoulder-peak and off-peak data and charges, you will have the same billing experience you have now.
  • No, we do not control any of your equipment; shifting energy is up to you and only you, but you may want to consider the installation of timers on certain equipment such as electric water heaters.
