Progress Energy Receives National Economic Development Award
In 2011, Site Selection magazine named Progress Energy one of North America's Top Utilities for Economic Development for the eighth time since 2001.

The magazine's September 2011 issue selected Progress Energy as one of 10 winning utilities based on the company's role in helping to generate more than 2,300 new jobs and more than $675 million in capital investment in its Carolinas and Florida service areas in 2010.

Progress Energy Named to Dow Jones Sustainability Index
For the seventh year in a row, Progress Energy has been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index (DJSI North America), which lists companies that lead their industries in managing economic, environmental and social issues.

Launched in 1999, the Dow Jones Sustainability Index tracks the financial performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide. In selecting the top performers in each business sector, DJSI reviewed companies on several general and industry-specific topics, including corporate governance, environmental policy, climate strategy, employee development and labor practices.

Progress Energy Honored Nationally for Corporate Responsibility

Progress Energy is ranked number 16 in CRO's 100 Best Corporate Citizens 2008, an annual ranking of top corporate citizens among public companies headquartered in the United States.

"It is an honor to be recognized as one of the nation's top corporate citizens," said Bill Johnson, chairman, president and CEO of Progress Energy. "Our company recently celebrated its 100th anniversary of service. Throughout our history, we have emphasized the importance of being a good corporate citizen and a powerful partner with the communities we serve."

Progress Energy Florida Named Corporation of the Year

For the second time, Progress Energy Florida has been named Corporation of the Year by the Florida Minority Supplier Development Council. The FMSDC, which provides major corporations and government agencies with easy access to minority-owned and -operated businesses, presented the award to Progress Energy Florida in August 2006.

Progress Energy Wins Edison Award

The Edison Electric Institute presented Progress Energy with the 2006 Edison Award based on our outstanding achievements in operational performance, reliability and customer service and environmental stewardship. This recognition is a very high honor for our company, and it is the result of the daily commitment and hard work of all Progress Energy employees
