Duke Energy Commercial Transmission

Duke Energy's Commercial Transmission business focuses on transmission projects that, strengthen the electric grid, integrate renewable energy, improve access to the wholesale electricity market and increase grid efficiency, thus reducing energy delivery costs.

Our business is built on strong partnerships with other proven and experienced transmission companies.

Pioneer Transmission LLC is a joint venture between Duke Energy and American Electric Power that was created to construct and own a proposed 240-mile, 765-kV transmission line across Indiana that would connect two regional transmission organizations, PJM and MISO. The first phase of the project is the 65-mile Greentown-to-Reynolds 765-kV transmission line in Indiana. The transmission line, which was placed in service in 2018, was jointly developed by Pioneer and Northern Indiana Public Service Company and is integrated into MISO.
