JULY/AUGUST
"A Stitch in Time"Art Show – Through Friday, August 20 – During Normal Business Hours
A quilt-themed art show highlights our region's love of quilting, but you'll find more than just the fabric form of quilts in this art show. See quilt motifs reflected in paper, wood, pottery and more. *Note:* The Heritage, Arts & Music Festival was a one-day event on Saturday, July 24. The art show, which was part of the festival, will remain on display until Friday, August 20. You may view the art show 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or Noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
Super Tuesday – Tuesday, August 10 – 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Whether you're just beginning to trace your family roots or are well along the way, genealogy expert Anne Sheriff will provide tips that help guide you through your journey. Learn how to get started, what resources are available and where to turn if you get stuck. She'll also have advice for those without family in this area and tell you why it's important to make sure your research is included in your Living Will. The one-hour program in our auditorium will be followed by light refreshments in The World of Energy lobby.
SEPTEMBER
National Hunting & Fishing Day – Saturday, September 25 – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Bring the whole family to experience a wonderful day in the great outdoors. Experts will teach both children and adults how to safely fire air rifles and bows and arrows, paddle canoes and kayaks and dress in camoflauge for hide and seek in the woods. There are too many outdoor activities to name, but it's all designed to promote family fun in the outdoors. All events are free. Bring a picnic or purchase food from on-site concessionaires.
DECEMBER
Girl Scout Badge Day – Saturday, December 4 – 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Fourth and fifth grade Girl Scouts (Juniors) in the Mountains to Midlands region are invited to The World of Energy's Badge Day. Participants can earn up to two badges during the day and will be able to choose (in advance) from the following badges: Science Discovery, High on Life, First Aid, Your Outdoor Surroundings, Making It Matter and Eco-Action. If your Junior Girl Scout is a member of the Mountains to Midlands region, go to their website and select "World of Energy Badge Day" under "Programming" to register. All sign-ups must be done through their website. Participants should plan to bring a bag lunch and drink the day of the event. Sign-in will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
