Duke Energy Carolinas – "Unsolicited" Renewable Energy Bid Proposals

Currently, Duke Energy Carolinas does not have an active renewable energy RFP. We welcome "unsolicited" renewable energy proposals in the absence of an active renewable energy RFP. Duke Energy Carolinas continues to diversify the mix of fuels it uses to generate electricity for its customers by making significant investments in renewable energy projects. The company is committed to exploring the potential of renewable energy to meet the requirements of our renewable energy standard (RPS) while balancing the cost to our customers.

Acceptable renewable energy bid proposals can be in the following form(s):

  • PPA
  • Sale/Purchase
  • REC-Only

Proposals should be submitted in the format as detailed in Exhibit D - Duke Energy Carolinas - "Unsolicited" Renewable Energy Bidder Response Package. Duke Energy Carolinas Standard Purchase Offer for Renewable Energy Certificates ("RECs")

Duke Energy Carolinas (DEC) continues to receive requests from renewable energy generators who have Renewable Energy Certificates ("RECs") to sell. Due to this interest, DEC has established a standard offer for the purchase of "RECs" to assist with DEC complying with the North Carolina RPS requirements.
