Selecting Trees for Transmission Rights of Way

Plant materials below 15 feet in height are approved for planting on Duke Energy's Electric Transmission Rights-of-Way in order to maintain the reliability of these major power lines that serve the public.

The following list of plants generally do not exceed 15 feet in mature height in the Carolina service area of Duke Energy's Electric Transmission under the environmental conditions that exist on our rights-of-way. However, if over time the plants exceed the 15-foot limit, they will be subject to removal.

Keep in mind that this list is not all-inclusive. Note that the height of different cultivars for a given species may vary.
