The Vermillion Energy Facility is a nominal 480 megawatt, natural gas-fired, combustion turbine facility, located in Vermillion County, Ind., approximately 65 miles west of Indianapolis. Commercial operation commenced in June 2000. Located in the Reliability First region, the Vermillion facility consists of eight natural gas-fired combustion turbines operating in simple-cycle mode, of which Duke Energy owns 75 percent of each unit.
