The Hanging Rock Energy Facility is a 1,240-megawatt natural gas-fired, combined-cycle merchant power plant located in Ironton in Lawrence County, Ohio. The facility is composed of two 620-megawatt units. Commercial operation began June 2003. Located in the Reliability First region and dispatched into PJM, the Hanging Rock facility consists of four natural gas-fired combustion turbines, four heat recovery steam generators and two steam turbines operating in combined-cycle mode, of which Duke Energy owns 100 percent.
