Economic Benefits
Duke Energy is proud of its citizenship and service to the communities in which it operates. The company’s 100-plus year history of safe and reliable electricity generation helps support the region’s economy through jobs and tax revenues. And, Duke Energy employees give time, talent and financial support to local schools, service agencies, arts programs, civic and environmental organizations and more.
Several years ago, the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) conducted an economic study of the local benefits provided by the Duke Energy-operated Oconee, McGuire and Catawba nuclear stations. While the study primarily focused on the benefits to local communities, state and national benefits were also calculated.
