Economic Benefits

Given the anticipated investment of approximately $2.3 billion to build the Edwardsport IGCC Plant, Knox County will receive substantial economic benefits from the project.

  • Plant is expected to employ an estimated 77-97 people
  • Majority of jobs at the plant would be high-skill/ high-paying  with an estimated annual payroll of $7 to $9 million
  • Construction jobs will average an estimated 800-900 during the three-year construction period with a peak number of appoximately 2,000
  • Increased tax base for local and state economies
