The four-unit Crystal River Steam Plant, located near Crystal River, Fla., has four coal-fired steam units capable of producing 2,295 megawatts. The site includes two units built in the 1960s and two units built in the 1980s. The site also includes the Crystal River Nuclear Plant capable of producing 860 megawatts. Together, the coal-fired and nuclear units make up the Crystal River Energy Complex, one of the largest generating plants in the nation.
