Installing a Charging Station
Considering a Level 2 Charging Station? These steps will guide you through the typical process.
Step 1: Assessment
Have a licensed electrician determine whether electrical upgrades are needed for your home to handle the charging station, and how much those upgrades will cost.
Step 2: Permitting and Upgrades
If you need to upgrade, your electrician will obtain the necessary permits from your local government. You should also notify Duke Energy at 800-979-9145 so we can evaluate and upgrade your local transformer, if needed, to support the charging station.
Step 3: Installation and Inspection
Your electrician will install your charging station and schedule all inspections that your local government may require.
Step 4: Charge and Go
After the installation and inspections are complete, you can bring home your PEV, plug in, charge up and drive off!
