Duke Energy is part of Indiana’s Project Plug-IN (PPI) initiative. Project Plug-IN is a commercialization project by Energy Systems Network (ESN), which aims to develop, deploy, demonstrate, market and evaluate a range of plug-in electric vehicles powered by an integrated charging infrastructure located at homes, businesses and parking facilities. As part of PPI, Duke Energy conducted a pilot that offered qualified customers a free Level 2 charging station for their personal or business PEV. At this time all slots for both personal and business customers in this program have been filled.
About the pilot
- Duke Energy installed a 240-volt, Level 2 charging station at the home or business of eligible customers and covered up to $1,000 in installation costs for residential customers.
- We service the charging station for free for the duration of the pilot program.
- We remotely access information to better understand collective charging habits and the impact on the power grid. This way we can better prepare for increased use in the future.
- When the pilot ends, participants will be able to keep the charging station at no additional cost.
