Customers Returning To Duke Energy

Business customers enrolled with a certified supplier who have elected to receive the waiver of Rider SRT and return to Duke Energy's Electric Security Standard Service Offer (ESP-SSO) prior to January 1, 2012, will be billed on DE-Ohio's ESP-SSO and will be subject to the applicable returning customer provision of Duke Energy's ESP. Business customers who enroll with a certified supplier and do not elect to receive the waiver of Rider SRT may return to Duke Energy's ESP without being subject to its real-time hourly energy price provision.

The Duke Energy's ESP SSO states that a customer, for each billing period, will pay 115% f DE-Ohio's ESP-SSO price, including all riders except for distribution riders.

Advanced Notice to Return Requirements

Customers (with annual energy consumption of 700,000 kWh or greater) or national account customers choosing to return to Duke Energy's standard service offer, must provide a 90 or 60 day notice of return prior to the meter reading date of returning to Duke Energy.   Advanced notice to return requirements are:

  • 90-days notice required - Account returning to Duke Energy on a meter reading date occurring between May 1 and October 31:
  • 60-days notice required - Account returning to Duke Energy on a meter reading date occurring between November 1 and April 30:
  • When advanced notice is submitted for an account, there will be no rescission period provided for the account.

Large commercial/industrial customer accounts, or national customer accounts, returning without proper notice will be charged $10/kW, based on peak kW demand during the three billing cycles subsequent to their return.

Follow these instructions for completing the form.

  • Enter all requested contact information in the Advanced Notification Return Form fields.  "Company Name" is the name of the company appearing on Duke Energy's bill(s) for the account(s).
  • Enter Requested Effective Date (This is Duke Energy's regularly scheduled meter reading date for the month returning to Duke Energy.)
