EDI Testing Information How do Certified Suppliers Begin Exchanging Data?

Certified Suppliers need to follow the steps below to begin exchanging data via EDI with Duke Energy.

  1. Complete a communications test with your network, if necessary.
  2. Review Duke Energy’s EDI Implementation Guidelines thoroughly.
  3. Set up your translator or batch to perform full compliance checking against ANSI X12 standards (Version 4010).
  4. E-mail Duke Energy’s Certified Supplier Business Center (csbcreps@duke-energy.com) to register for testing.

  6. Make sure you are set up to return Functional Acknowledgements (997s). They are required.

What are the Testing Requirements?

  • A variety of different types of testing must take place before Duke Energy can begin exchanging data with a Certified Supplier.
  • Trading partner responsibilities, with respect to testing, include participation and completion of testing as outlined below, as well as the communication and coordination of those activities encompassed in these tasks. The testing procedures outlined below provide a building block approach, where each test case is a pre-requisite of the next test case. This will ensure a thoroughly tested production installation.
  • Site Testing
  • Connectivity Testing
  • End-to-End Testing
  • Change Management/Enhancement Testing

EDI Testing Schedule

  • During initial start-up, Duke Energy had conducted end-to-end testing with suppliers in many testing queues and phases.  All queues and phases are now complete.
  • For suppliers who did not participate in previous testing queues, testing will be scheduled on a request by request basis.  As a pre-requisite to initiating EDI testing, suppliers must have submitted a complete registration packet to Duke Energy.   Please review below on how to register to begin EDI Testing.
