For questions regarding your rebate card, please contact Cardholder Services at 888.371.2109. More information about using your card can be found in the frequently asked questions below or by visiting My Prepaid Center.
- It is recommended that you use the online portal, which can be found by visiting My Prepaid Center. An online account will give you access to in-depth information about activating your card, making purchases and handling lost/stolen cards.
- Know your available card balance. If the card is processed for more than its available value, it will be declined.
- Your card will be accepted wherever Debit MasterCard is accepted (excluding ATMs and gas pumps).
- Choose Credit instead of Debit if given the option.
- Record the card number and the toll-free Cardholder Services number listed on the back of the card (888.371.2109), and keep this information in a separate location. You will need this information if the card is lost or stolen.
How do I activate my card?
To activate your card, please visit My Prepaid Center or call the number on the card. You will not be able to use the card until it has been activated.
Where can I see the current balance on the card?
Visit the My Prepaid Center for information regarding your card. Be sure to have your card accessible.
Does the card expire?
Yes, the card will expire on the last day of the month of the valid thru date printed on the front of the card. An expired card cannot be replaced.
Can I get text and/or email alerts?
Yes, visit the My Prepaid Center to opt in. Text messaging restrictions apply. Charges from your phone carrier may apply.
Is this a credit card?
No. It is a prepaid reward card and it does not affect your credit rating.

Where can I use the card?
The card can be accepted wherever Debit MasterCard® is accepted excluding gas pumps (pay at the pump) and ATMs.
Where can I go to obtain more information about using the card?
Detailed information can be found by logging in to the My Prepaid Center, or by contacting Cardholder Services at 1-888-371-2109.
How do I use my card to make a purchase?
Select credit, not debit, and sign the receipt (even though the card says debit on the front). Although no PIN is required, you may still create and use a PIN if you prefer by logging in to the My Prepaid Center and clicking Set PIN at the top of the page. If you do create a PIN, swipe the card as debit.
Do I need a PIN for merchandise purchases?
No. Select credit and sign the receipt. However, you may still create and use a PIN if you prefer. Simply log in and click Set PIN at the top of this page. If you do create a PIN, swipe the card as debit.
What if I want to purchase something that is more than the balance on the card?
The card can only be swiped for the current balance or less. If your purchase amount is more than the value on the card, use the card last when using multiple forms of payment.

Preventing your Duke Energy Prepaid MasterCard® from being declined
My card got declined when I tried to use it. What do I do?
Make sure that none of the following applies to you:
- Card was swiped for more than the card balance.
- Card was used at a gas pump or ATM.
- Card was not activated before use.
- Card was swiped as debit without creating a PIN.
If you are still having trouble with your card please call 1-888-371-2109 and Cardholder services will be able to assist you.
I lost my prepaid card. What do I do?
Please call 1-888-371-2109 and provide the card number. A new card will be sent to you with the remaining value at the time you call. The replacement card must be requested 15 days prior to the valid thru date. The first replacement is free, although there is a fee for each additional replacement. Replacement cards typically arrive within seven to 10 business days via First Class mail. Should you not have your card number please email us at email@example.com and we will make sure a replacement card is requested.
My card balance seems incorrect. What do I do?
Log in to view your Transaction History.
If you still think the balance is incorrect, contact Customer Service at 1-888-371-2109.
