Jennifer L. Weber to Lead Human Resources at Duke Energy October 2, 2008

Duke Energy today announced it has named Jennifer L. Weber as Chief Human Resources Officer. 

Weber, 41, joins Duke Energy from Scripps Networks Interactive in Cincinnati, Ohio. The company was recently spun off from The E.W. Scripps Company. Over the past three years, Jennifer served Scripps, and then Scripps Networks Interactive, as senior vice president of Human Resources. 

At Duke Energy, she will oversee all HR activities for the company and its 18,000 employees. Weber will report to Group Executive and Chief Legal Officer Marc E. Manly. Her first day at the company will be Nov. 1, 2008. 

"We are very excited about having Jennifer join Duke Energy," said Manly. "The future workforce issues facing the utility industry are challenging and she will provide the proper direction to meet those challenges." 

Weber received a master's degree from Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor's degree in communications from Miami (Ohio) University. 

She worked at the consulting firm Towers Perrin for 11 years as a partner and as managing principal of the firm's Cincinnati office. In that role, she participated in the design and implementation of total rewards strategies and programs for many large clients. She joined Scripps in 2005.
