Update: Duke Energy Will Return Lakes to Target Levels Aug. 28, 2008 - 5:10 p.m.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -
Duke Energy's hydro operations continue to move excess rainfall from the remnants of tropical storm Fay downstream. Our goal is to return the lakes to target levels, in anticipation of more rainfall that could come to the region next week from new tropical activity.
Below is an update for your information:
- Lookout Shoals is expected to return to below full pond level Friday morning.
- Lake Wateree is expected to reach full pond this evening. NOTE - Lake Wateree may reach a lake level ranging from 101-102 feet Friday.
For the most current lake levels, please go to www.duke-energy.com/lakes/levels.asp.
This forecast is based on rainfall received. Additional rainfall received in the basin can change this timeline.
Residents who live in low lying, flood prone areas should take appropriate precautions now to plan for this high water event. Continue to monitor the National Weather Service and follow local emergency management officials' recommendations for required actions.
Boaters are reminded to be alert to floating debris. Updates will be provided throughout this event, as conditions warrant.
