CHARLOTTE, N.C. -

The former Outland Energy Services displayed its new Duke Energy Renewables colors this week at the American Wind Energy Association trade show in Chicago.

Duke Energy Renewables, a commercial business unit of Duke Energy, acquired Minnesota-based Outland Energy Services in late 2012. Outland Energy Services has provided monitoring, maintenance and site management services for wind generation facilities both domestically and internationally since 2005. This expertise is now offered through Duke Energy Renewables.

“We are excited about the union with Duke Energy Renewables,” said Steve Scott, former chief executive officer, Outland Energy Services. “This means you now have access to the wind industry’s highest-quality service provider, combined with the financial stability and operational excellence of Duke Energy, the nation’s largest electric power company.”

Outland, now operating as Duke Energy Renewables Services, is the first and only North American independent service provider to secure and maintain all three major ISO certifications in quality management, environmental management and occupational health and safety management. They currently operate or maintain 2,700 megawatts of renewable capacity generated from eight different turbine manufacturers.

“The history of first-rate performance that Outland brings has strengthened our team,” said Greg Wolf, president of Duke Energy Renewables. “We’re pleased that we can now offer their extensive experience, high standards, and unmatched safety record to both wind and solar asset owners across the country.

“Combined with Duke Energy Renewables’ REMC [Renewable Energy Monitoring System], which uses powerful and secure technology to monitor wind and solar power plants throughout the U.S., not only do we have the boots-on-the-ground strength, we are also able to provide 24/7 critical monitoring services to optimize reliability, safety and performance of renewable assets.”

Since 2007, Duke Energy has invested more than $2.5 billion to grow its commercial wind and solar business.
