Duke Energy Recognized as One of the Nation's Top 10 Utilities for Economic Development Sept. 23, 2011

Duke Energy has been selected by Site Selection magazine as one of the nation's top 10 utilities in economic development.
Site Selection, a national publication serving the economic development industry, recognized Duke Energy for the role it played in helping businesses in its five-state service territory create nearly 13,900 jobs in 2010, backed by nearly $5.8 billion in capital investment.
Duke Energy serves customers in Indiana, the Carolinas, Ohio and Kentucky. Its economic development staff offers services such as site and building databases, site development grants, and support for local and state economic development groups.
This is the 13th year Duke Energy’s Indiana economic development group has received Site Selection magazine’s recognition.
In Indiana, Duke Energy awarded eight site development grants in 2010 totaling $140,050, including a grant to help prepare a Bloomington site for data center development and another to support redevelopment of the former Pfizer site in Terre Haute.
Site Selection magazine surveys utilities annually to determine the number of jobs and size of capital investment the companies helped generate and the programs they offered to attract new business and help existing industry expand.
