PLAINFIELD, IND. -

Duke Energy crews continue to make steady progress in restoring power to customers impacted by this week’s major winter storm.

As of 3 p.m. Thursday, Duke Energy had restored approximately 188,000 customer outages in its Indiana service area. Currently there are approximately 9,400 outages remaining.

The hardest work is still ahead as the restoration process focuses on isolated individual outages instead of circuits serving large numbers of homes and businesses.

“We are grateful for the words of support given to our team in the field, and for our customer’s patience and understanding while we get the power back on,” said Jim Stanley, senior vice president of Duke Energy power delivery. “Our crews have made good progress, but we will remain as focused on restoring power to the last customers as we were the first.”

The Duke Energy Foundation is providing $15,000 statewide to Indiana emergency management agencies in the hardest-hit areas to assist with their response to this storm.

Estimated restoration times for the hardest hit areas in Indiana include:

  • Thursday by 6 p.m. for the Greensburg and Sullivan areas
  • Thursday by midnight for the Columbus and Shelbyville area
  • Friday by 9 a.m. for the Brazil and Greencastle areas
  • Friday by noon for the Clinton area
  • Friday by 6 p.m. for the Bloomington area
  • Friday by midnight for the Connersville and Terre Haute areas

Estimated times of restoration indicate when the majority of outages in specific locations are anticipated to be restored. Many customers will be back in service sooner than the estimated times. There also may be scattered, isolated outages remaining beyond these times depending on individual cases.
