Duke Energy, Paul Anderson Honored at Global Energy Awards
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Duke Energy and Chairman Paul Anderson took home high honors at the 8th Annual Platts Global Energy Awards Thursday night, Nov. 30 in New York.
The company won the Industry Leadership Award during the ceremonies. As previously announced, Anderson was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Duke Energy was recognized for addressing issues surrounding climate change, as well as for its recent successful merger with Cinergy. In addition to industry-leading activities, judging criteria for the Industry Leadership Award also included innovative skill, customer care, environmental care, safety and commercial success.
Anderson was selected for exemplifying “the characteristics of a true leader -- vision, scope, and delivery,” said Victoria Chu Pao, Platts president and host of the Global Energy Awards. “Our panel of judges agreed that Mr. Anderson's record as a clear-sighted leader, his ethical courage, and his ability to turn challenged businesses into success stories makes him a very worthy winner of this prestigious award.”
Honoring the energy industry's “Best of the Best,” the Global Energy Awards recognize excellence and innovation by companies and executives in more than a dozen sectors globally.
