The project will feature three General Electric 7FA combustion turbines, one Alstom steam turbine for highly efficient “combined-cycle” power generation and will include selective catalytic reduction technology to provide for reduced nitrogen oxides in plant emissions. Commercial operation is scheduled for summer 2004.

Peak employment during construction is expected to top 800 workers. The value of the D/FD contract was not disclosed.

In 2000, D/FD was awarded a contract to provide turnkey EPC services for the Urquhart Station Repowering Project, which will result in a 450-megawatt, natural gas-fired, combined-cycle power plant in Aiken County, S.C.
