DUKE POWER THANKS CUSTOMERS FOR THEIR PATIENCE
This storm has been one of historic proportion with more than 1.3 million Duke Power customers impacted. “We want to thank customers for their patience and understanding as we work to get the lights back on,” said E.O. Ferrell, senior vice president of electric distribution for Duke Power. “We know this inconvenience continues to wear on our customers as we move into the fifth day of recovery. Nobody wants to get the power back on more than the 12,000 dedicated professionals working around the clock. We’d certainly be remiss if we didn’t thank the suppliers, manufacturers and transportation companies that are also working 24 hours-a-day to ensure we have the materials needed to fully restore service to all of our customers.” “Customers can help avoid unexpected delays in restoring their service by making sure the meter box attached to their home or business has not been damaged. If the meter box has been damaged or pulled away from the structure, customers need to contact a licensed electrician for repairs and their local county inspection office.” Power outages and downed power lines should be reported using the 1-800-POWERON (1/800-769-3766) telephone line. If a customer has reported an outage, it isn’t necessary to call again unless the customer’s power remains off when a neighbor’s power is restored. Outage numbers will continue to fluctuate as line workers have to disconnect some service to test lines or make additional repairs further down the line. ESTIMATED TIMES OF RESTORATION Please Note: A majority of customers will have their electric service restored by the times listed below. However Estimated Time Of Restoration (to the 90 percent restored level) may be longer for customers with individual service or equipment problems. Information will be updated as work progresses.
