·         Dwight L. Jacobs has joined the company as managing director – corporate accounting and reporting.

·         J. Danny Wiles has joined as managing director – accounting research and business unit support.

·         Daniel R. Zakerski has joined as director – financial systems.

Jacobs will be responsible for managing internal and external financial reporting for Duke Energy. A native of Bethlehem, N.C., Jacobs has spent the past 14 years with Arthur Andersen – working in offices in Washington, D.C., Columbia, S.C., and Greensboro. He was a partner with Arthur Andersen the past two years. A certified public accountant, Jacobs earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.

Wiles will be responsible for leading the research and implementation of accounting standards guidelines and emerging issues from regulatory and authoritative agencies. A native of Yadkinville, Wiles has spent the past three years as a partner with Arthur Andersen in Chicago. Prior to that, he had worked 14 years with Arthur Andersen in Charlotte. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.

Zakerski will be responsible for managing the enhancement of financial reporting systems, including the development of a standardized Chart of Accounts for use throughout the corporation. A native of Dearborn, Mich., Zakerski spent the past year at Kmart Corp. Prior to joining Kmart, he spent six years with R.I. Polk Co., the Michigan-based automotive database analysis company. Before that, he spent seven years as an audit manager at PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Detroit. He earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Michigan State University.
