DUKENET COMMUNICATIONS ANNOUNCES NEW SERVICES FOR TELECOMMUNICATION COMPANIES

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- DukeNet Communications, Duke Energy's telecommunications business unit, today announced two new services targeted at the wholesale market segment.

Feature Group Express is designed for inter-exchange carriers (IXCs) who originate and terminate calls from/to local telephone company end office switches. By combining DukeNet’s interLATA/interstate fiber optic network with its metro fiber network, customers can purchase a bundled service from their switch site to various local telephone company end offices in North Carolina and South Carolina.

Switch-to-Switch Express is intended for wireless and competitive local exchange carriers who share voice traffic between their switches. Switch-to-Switch Express leverages DukeNet’s existing fiber network connectivity to many of these switch sites and offers carriers simplified order management and shared billing from a single provider.

Companies interested in these services can contact the DukeNet Communications’ marketing department at 704/382-7542, or send an e-mail to: dcimarketing@duke-energy.com.
