HOUSTON -- Duke Energy International (DEI), a subsidiary of Duke Energy, today announced the appointment of Julie A. Dill to the post of executive vice president, Asia Pacific. She is assuming the position of managing director of DEI’s Asia Pacific region, replacing Michael J. McDanold who is returning to a position with Duke Energy in the United States.

DEI is one of the world’s leading international energy companies offering energy trading and marketing, risk management, natural gas and power development expertise and operations services across Latin America, Europe and the Asia Pacific. DEI’s Asia Pacific operation has facilities in Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia; and includes 824 gross megawatts of thermal power generation; energy trading and marketing; and 1,738 miles of natural gas pipelines. DEI will soon begin construction of a 463-mile extension of the Eastern Gas Pipeline from Victoria’s coast to the island of Tasmania.

Bruce A. Williamson, president and chief executive officer of DEI, made the announcement, citing Dill’s broad experience with global energy issues as ideal to lead the integrated operations of this key region.

Dill joined DEI in 1998 as chief financial officer where she has been part of the leadership team that has managed DEI’s growth from $470 million in assets to the over $3.5 billion currently under management. Prior to joining DEI, Dill was fiscal director of transportation with Equilon Enterprises, a Royal Dutch Shell company. During her 17 years with Shell Oil Company, she served in several leadership positions that included assignments in exploration and production, internal auditing, and refining and marketing. She received a bachelor of business administration degree in finance from New Mexico State University.
