Lockheed Martin Energy Systems, Inc. and Duke Engineering & Services Announce Formation of Corporate Partnership

Oak Ridge, TN (March 20, 2000) - Lockheed Martin Energy Systems (LMES) and Duke Engineering & Services (DE&S) are proud to announce the formation of a corporate partnership to compete for the rebid of Nuclear Facility Operations at the Y-12 facility.

Lockheed Martin, which has supported the Y-12 facility for the past 16 years, is teaming with DE&S in order to continue to provide DOE world-class operational support.

Both companies have a strong regional presence and a long-term commitment to DOE. This partnership will continue to provide access to Lockheed Martin‘s corporate resources and capabilities, while introducing a full range of innovative solutions from both companies to meet the challenges Y-12 and the Defense Programs complex will face in the 21st century.

Ed Bergin, who assumed the role of General Manager of the Y-12 facility February 1, 2000, was especially excited about adding DE&S to the Lockheed Martin team. "I could not imagine a better match of capabilities. DE&S’ project management capabilities and extensive operational competencies and commercial approach to nuclear operations perfectly complements Lockheed Martin’s expertise and experience at Y-12."

Bob Van Hook, LMES President said, "DE&S is an international energy and environmental services company with best-in-class nuclear operations experience. Its presence and commitment enhances our continued partnership with DOE, the community and the state of Tennessee to ensure Y-12’s continued success."

"We are very pleased to join the Lockheed Martin team," said Ron Green, chief executive officer, DE&S. "Together we form a dynamic team with complementary strengths that will further enhance Y-12’s national security mission and augment the core competencies LMES has provided for the past 16 years."
