DUKE ENERGY FIELD SERVICES STRENGTHENS CANADIAN PRESENCE WITH STRATEGIC MIDSTREAM PURCHASE

DENVER – Duke Energy Field Services, LLC (DEFS), through its subsidiary Duke Energy Midstream Services Canada Ltd., today announced it has acquired the Gordondale Gas Processing Plant and Gathering System from TransCanada Midstream for an undisclosed price. The transaction closed late May, with DEFS assuming ownership effective May 1, 2000.

The Gordondale assets in northwestern Alberta include a sour gas plant with current capacity of 80 million cubic feet of gas per day, 115 miles of gas gathering lines and two field compressors. The plant is licensed for up to 100 million cubic feet per day and is readily expandable.

"The Gordondale facilities are located near our existing Canadian assets, making this a particularly strategic acquisition for us," said Michael Bradley, senior vice president of Duke Energy Field Services’ northern division. "This will enable us to integrate our existing sour gas gathering and processing assets with the Gordondale facilities, optimize the assets moving forward and provide greater service options and flexibility for our customers."

DEFS, headquartered in Denver, Colo., is a midstream energy company that gathers, processes, transports, markets and stores natural gas and produces, transports and markets natural gas liquids (NGLs). The company is one of the nation's largest natural gas gatherers, the largest producer of NGLs and one of the largest NGL marketers. DEFS operates in 11 states and across five of the largest natural gas producing regions in North America. The company owns and operates 70 plants and 57,000 miles of pipeline, and its operating territory extends from western Canada to the Gulf Coast. DEFS also owns the general partner of TEPPCO Partners, L.P., a publicly traded master limited partnership.

Duke Energy Field Services, LLC was formed by combining the Duke Energy and Phillips Petroleum natural gas gathering and processing businesses. Duke Energy, a diversified multi-national energy company, owns approximately 70 percent of the joint venture and Phillips Petroleum owns about 30 percent.
