CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Chuck Beam has been promoted to vice president, information technology operations for Duke Energy.

A native of Columbia, S.C., Beam received a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of South Carolina.

Beam joined Duke Energy in 1979 as a programmer/analyst. For the past 20 years, he has held various technical and management positions within the corporate information management area. Most recently, he was general manager, information technology security and business management.

Beam is an Elder at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church in Mint Hill. He and his wife, Debbie, have two daughters and a son.
