CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Lincoln County resident Donald (Skip) Steele has been promoted to vice president, corporate services, at Duke Energy.

Steele is responsible for managing the business activities and functions of corporate services, which include facilities and real estate management, aviation, payroll, payables, travel, communications services, corporate libraries and other support systems.

Steele joined the corporation in 1976 in the construction area for Duke Power, a business unit of Duke Energy. Since then, he has held several positions of increasing responsibility. From 1982 to 1988, Steele worked in various nuclear construction and maintenance roles, before being appointed generation services (GSD) business manager in 1988. He served as GSD customer support manager from 1993 to 1994 and as business planning manager, corporation administration, before being named general manager, corporate services, in 1999.

A native of Greenville, S.C., Steele attended Davidson College. He is currently a member, and past chair, of the Quality Leadership Council for Lincoln County Schools.

He and his wife, Shasta, have two sons and a daughter.
