CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Sue Becht has been promoted to senior vice president, investor relations, for Duke Energy.

Becht joined Duke Power in 1975 as an accountant. In 1978 she moved to the treasury area. She was named treasurer in 1988, after holding several treasury management positions, including that of assistant treasurer. She was named vice president, investor relations, in 1997.

A native of El Paso, Texas, Becht has lived in the Carolinas since 1972. She received her bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Becht serves as a member of the boards of directors of the North Carolina Enterprise Corp. and Piedmont Partners, Inc. She is a member of the Financial Executives Institute and the End Users of Derivatives Association. Locally, Becht serves on the board of the Charlotte Symphony. She also serves on the advisory councils of the College of Business at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte and the Charlotte Uptown YMCA.

She and her husband, Ron, have a daughter.
